My Indigenous artwork was deeply inspired by the sacred art style, dot painting and the cultural animal black buddihiwi (emu). Black emus represent the vast areas of our land and heritage. They are also known to symbolise strength, survival and resilience. Black emus can offer strength, survival and resilience into the next year and for those who are graduating. Having my artwork on the 2025 yearbook cover would mean a lot to me because I can express my Aboriginal heritage by doing something I love, which is dot painting.
